Hey !!!

Explanation :- we know that the sin²¢ + cos²¢ = 1
similarly here we consider 50° as ¢ then in numerator will it will be sin²¢ + cos²¢ . ( but we know that sin²¢ + cos²¢ = 1 )
similarly in denomenator 31° considered as ¢ so sin²¢ + cos²¢ = 1 we get .

Note ↔ If you are asking to find value of k , then i hope my solution will help you !

Cos²40 = Cos² ( 90 - 50 ) = Sin²50°

And,

Sin²31 = Sin² ( 90 - 59 ) = Cos² 59°

Therefore,

Cos²40° + Cos²50° / 2 ( Sin²59° + Cos²59° ) = 2/K.

2/ K = 1 / 2 × 1

2/ K = 1/2

K = 4.
