Here is your answer....
cos 60° = cos^2 30° - sin^2 30° = 1/2
[ we know that cos 60° = 1/2 ,
cos 30° = root 3/2 , sin 30° = 1/2]
then from question.....
1/2 = (root 3 /2)^2 - (1/2)^2 = 1/2
1/2 = 3/4 - 1/4 = 1/2
1/2 = 2/4 = 1/2
1/2 = 1/2 = 1/2
