Answer:

assume theta = A

so we know that,

cosec^2 A - cot^2 A = 1 eqn (1)

as cosec A = root 2 or √2

putting the value in eqn(1) we get,

(√2)^2 - cot^2 A = 1

or,2 - cot^2 A = 1

or,- cot^2 A = 1 - 2 [subtracting two from bothside]

or,cot^2 A = 2 - 1

or,cot^2 A = 1

or cot A = +1 or -1

now we know

tan A = 1/cot A

or,tan A = 1/1 [taking the positive value]

or tan A = 1.

again,

tan A = 1/-1 [taking the negative value]

or,tan A = -1

so tan theta = 1 or -1.
