In context to question asked,

We have to determine the cost of 12\frac{1}{2}\:Kg of rice.

From the question,

Cost of 18 kg of rice = Rs. 1440

So, for determining the cost of  12\frac{1}{2}\:Kg of rice, we will determine first the cost of 1 Kg of rice.

So, for determining the cost of 1 Kg of rice we will divide the cost of 18 Kg of rice by 18.

So, we will get,

The cost of 1 Kg of rice will be =\frac{1440}{18} = Rs.\:80

So, now determining the cost of  12\frac{1}{2}\:Kg of rice.

We will multiply the quantity  12\frac{1}{2}\:Kg of rice by the cost of unit Kg of rice.

Hence, we will get,

12\frac{1}{2}\times 80=>Rs.\:1000

Hence, cost of  12\frac{1}{2}\:Kg of rice will be Rs. 1000.

Given: The cost of a 18kg of rice is rupees Rs1440.

We have to find the cost of a 12\frac{1}{2}kg of rice.

We are solving in the following way:

We have,

The cost of a 18kg of rice is rupees Rs1440.

So, the cost of one kg. of rice will be:

\Rightarrow\frac{1440}{18} \\\\\Rightarrow 80

Hence, the cost of one kg. of rice is Rs80.

So, the cost of a 12\frac{1}{2}kg of rice will be:

\Rightarrow 80\times12\frac{1}{2} \\\\\Rightarrow 80\times\frac{25}{2} \\\\\Rightarrow 1000

Hence, the cost of a 12\frac{1}{2}kg of rice will be 1000Rs.
