Given,

Cost of a dozen pen is 240 and cost of 14 pencils is 112 rupees

We have to find the ratio of a pen to the cost of a pencil

First we have to calculate one pen and one pencil cost

According to the question,

Cost of a dozen pens is 240

We know that

Dozen =12

So,

12 pens = 240 rupees

1 pen = \frac{240}{12}

=20 rupees

Cost of 14 pencils is 112 rupees

14 pencils = 112 rupees

1 pencil = \frac{112}{14}

=8 rupees

Now,

The ratio of one pen and pencil cost is 20: 8

= 5:2

Therefore, the answer is 5:2.
