Cost of one pen = 2x+3Cost of 5 pens = 5*(2x+3) = 10x+15
Cost of one pencil = y-3Cost of 3 pencils = 3*(y-3) = 3y-9
∴ Total cost of 5 pens and 3 pencils = 10x+15 + 3y-9 = 10x + 3y + 15 -9 = 10x + 3y + 6
