Cost of a table is 40 rupees more than a chair. Cost of 2 table and 2 chair is 520 rupees. Find the cost of a table and a chair.

let cost of chair =x

cost of table = x+40

cost of 2 tables = 2x+80

cost of 2 chairs =2x

2x+80+2x = 520

4x= 520-80

x =  \frac{440}{4}

x= 110

cost of chair =110

cost of table = 110+40

=150

According to question

2(40+x) + 2x = 520

80 + 2x + 2x = 520

80 + 4x = 520

4x = 520-80

4x = 440

x = 110

Cost of table = 110 + 40 = 150 rupees

Cost of a table and a chair = 110 + 150

= 260
