Cost of book(x) exceeds twice the cost of pen(y)

  • → Cost of book = 2 × Cost of pen
  • → x = 2y
  • → x -2y = 0

by Rs. 10

  • → x -2y = 10
  • x -2y -10 = 0

Given: Cost of book(x) exceeds twice the cost of pen(y) by Rs. 10.

To find: We have to find out the linear equation of this statement.

Solution:

Let the cost of book is x and cost of pen is y rupees.

Given that cost of book(x) exceeds twice the cost of pen(y) by Rs. 10.

To determine the liner equation we have to equal the substraction of x to 2y with 10.

x - 2y = 10

So, the linear equation of the statement is x-2y=10
