Let's Assume the cost price of one orange =1

cost price of 12 oranges=12

selling price of 9 oranges =12
selling price of 12 oranges =12×12/9=16

Profit in selling 12 oranges =16-12=4
Profit percentage =4×100/12=33.33%

Now, it's said that
Discount on 10 oranges = the profit on 5 oranges

It means
Profit on 5 oranges are Double than the Discount on 10 oranges or Discount is half on 10 oranges than profit on 5 oranges.

so they're in the ratio of 2:1
So, Profit on 5 oranges= 33.33×2/3 = 22.22%
Discount on 10 oranges= 33.33×1/3= 11.11%

Difference= 33.33% - 11.11% = 22.22%

HENCE ANSWER IS OPTION B.

Hope this helps :)

Answer:

22.22 %

Step-by-step explanation:

12 C = 9 S

S/C = 12/9 = 4 / 3 => Profit of 33.33 %

10 D = 5 P

10 (M - S) = 5 (S - C)

10M - 10S = 5S - 5(9/12)S  since CP = 9/12 SP

10 M = 15 S + 15/4 S = 40 M = 45 S => 8M  = 9S  so D % =  11.11 %

Difference = 22.22%
