Answer:

Discount percentage is 10%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Cost price of an article for a shopkeeper is Rs. 3,000. Shopkeeper marked its as Rs. 4000. He allows some discount on the marked price still gains 20%.

To determine :  What percent discount does he allow to the customer?

Solution :

CP = Rs.3000

MP of article= Rs.4000

Discount =?

Gain =20%

Finding selling price,

SP=\frac{CP\timesG\%}{100}+CP

SP=\frac{3000\times20}{100}+3000

SP=600+3000

SP=3600

Discount =M.P - S.P

D=4000-3600

D=Rs.400

Discount% is

D\%=\frac{D}{MP}\times 100

D\%=\frac{400}{4000}\times 100

D\%=10\%

Therefore, Discount percentage is 10%.
