Cost price of an article is Rs.100 and discount given on the article is Rs.4 more than the profit earned on it. If ratio of selling price to marked price of the article is 41 : 50 then find the discount offered?

CP of an article = Rs 100

Selling Price (SP) = 41x

Marked Price (MP) = 50x

Profit earned (P) = SP - CP = 41x - Rs 100

Discount given (D) = P + Rs 4

or, MP - SP = 41x - Rs 100 + Rs 4

or, 50x - 41x = 41x - Rs 96

or, 50x = Rs 96

or, x = Rs 1.92

Discount = MP - SP

= 50x - 41x

= 9x

= 9*Rs 1.92

= Rs 17.28
