Answer:

We have to prove that

cot A - tan A= \frac{2cos^2A-1}{cosA\times sinA}

Keep in mind :

cotA=\frac{cosA}{sinA}, tan A=\frac{sinA}{CosA},

cos²A +sin²A=1

Cot A - tan A

=\frac{cosA}{sinA}-\frac{sinA}{cosA}\\\\= \frac{cos^2A-Sin^2A}{cosA\times sinA}\\\\ =\frac{cos^2A-(1-cos^2A)}{cosA\times sinA}\\\\=\frac{cos^2A-1+cos^2A}{cosA\times sinA}\\\\=\frac{2cos^2A-1}{cosA\times sinA}
