L.H.S.

cot²A - cos²A

=> \frac{cos²A}{sin²A} - cos²A

=> \frac{cos²A - cos²A.sin²A}{sin²A}

=> \frac{cos²A}{sin²A} × (1 - sin²A)

=> cot²A × (1 - sin²A)

[We know that , sin² + cos²A = 1 , therefore 1-sin²A = cos²A ]

=> cot²A × cos²A
