For 5 cotter pine we have :

C.p=₹1,gain%=25%

S.p=₹(100+gain%)/100*c.p=₹(100+25/100*1)=₹(5/4)

Now,₹(5/4) is th s.p of 5 cotter pins

₹1 is the s.p of (5*4/5) cotter pins i,e,4 cotter pins

Answer:

\huge\mathcal\red{Answer}

CP of 5 cotter pins = ₹1 = 100paise

CP of 1 cotter pin = 100/5 = 20paise

Gain % = 25%

Gain = 25/100×20paise

Gain = 5 paise

SP of 1 cotter pin = 20+5 = 25paise

SP of 4 cotter pins = 25×4 = 100paise = ₹1

So, 4 cotter pins should be sold for a rupee to gain 25%
