Could anyone explain me properly why ice floats on water? Its not clear to me.

as the density of ice is less than the density of water which is the main reason why ice float on water

It is because ice has a hexagonal spaces between it's molecules normally any solid would have more density but due to this spaces between it's molecules ice has lower density than water .Hence it flows on water
