Could the number of eggs or young ones produced by an oviparous & viviparous mother be equal? Why?

oviparous give birth by laying egg...one egg at a time

while

viviparous produces many egg but only one is hatched

.it can be true that the number of egg are same in both cases .

Explanation: In viviparous the no. of egg that get fertile or the young ones produced are usually very less and most of the time just one. But in oviparous the no. of eggs layed are more this is because the eggs' protection and mortality rate is less as they are outside the mother's body.
