IT MEANT LORD CANTERVILLE WAS COMENTING ON HIS BELIEF'S THAT GHOST DIDNT EXIST HE WAS SAYING THAT AMERICAN SOCIETY DOSENT BELIEVES IN THE EXISTANCE OF GHOST IT HAS TOTALLY RESISTED THE EXISTANCE OF GHOST
