Velocity of a body is the distance travelled by it per unit time in given direction.

The difference between speed and velocity is that speed has only magnitude(or size), it has no specific direction, but velocity has magnitude as well as direction.
For example:-)the expression '25 km per hr' is the speed(because it has magnitude),but the expression'25km per hr towards North' (or any direction)is velocity(because it has both magnitude as well as direction).
