Counseling is showing a person the right path and helping them overcome their emotional and mental barriers when they stray off their path. Its goal is to help people with depression, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, anorexia, ADHD, split personality disorder, multiple personality disorder, etc to get better through various therapies and medications, etc. It helps the person realise that they're not alone even though they think so. Group therapies are also helpful at times. Anyone can talk freely about their problems with a counselor who will help them or, if necessary, prescribe them to a psychiatrist or psychologist.
