Yesterday, I went to an Old age home on a school trip to spend the with the learned and the wise old people. We brought some food and blankets along with ourselves to donate it to them. The Old Age home was a very neat two storeyed building which had a small temple in front of it. As we were walking in, an old lady was staring at us from the balcony. As I opened the door , I saw a plenty of old people, staring at us in a very odd way. They didn't seem to be happy. Someone was knitting, someone was chatting and someone was playing chess, but there was no cheer in them. They seemed to be sad. We distributed the blankets and food, and after that I took a seat just next to an old lady, who was just looking out of the window. She greeted me with a smile. She asked my name, my class, and how my studies were going on. She kept on repeating the phrase - respect your parents always, they love you. She then told me her story. How she used to play with her son, teach him and spend a lot of time with him. How she used to take care of him when he was sick. Tears tumbled down her eyes when she said that. Then she told me that how her son left her, not realizing her sacrifices for him. I hugged her and gave her some water. Her story really touched me. I told her everything will be fine and she smiled. She then gave me a toffee that she took out from her purse. She also told me that, even if my parents scold me, it was for my own good. When I returned back from the Old Age home, I promised myself, that I will make my parents proud and never leave them, as they have sacrificed a lot for me.
