As a result , molecules in which atoms are bonded covalently have definite shapes......Hence covalent bonds show directionality because of the shape of their electron wavefunction. A covalent bond is formed by the overlap of half - filled atomic orbitals which have definite directions .

Hence covalent bond is directional.
