Explanation:

so in carbon dioxide we have carbon and oxygen and both of them not have any d orbital so they tends to form covalent bond to fulfill there outer orbital by sharing.

Carbondioxide is a product of combustion. As an element, C only has 4 outer shell electrons and oxygen 6. Double covalent bonds form between the atoms, where two electrons from each other are shared making 4 bonding electron in total.
