Sulfur Dioxide is a process of covalent bonding, since Sulfur and Oxygen are both non-metals. Sulfur, again, is the central atom surrounded by 4 shared pairs of electrons between two Oxygen atoms and 1 unshared pair. Each Oxygen atom is double bonded to the Sulfur atom and achieves the octet rule.
