Hi there !!!

We are asked to convert the given mass of water to moles.

Here given mass = 36 grams

We have to find the molar mass of water

As we all know  chemical formula of water is H₂O.

∴ Molar mass of H₂O = 2 × 1 + 1 × 16
                                   = 18 grams

So its easy to convert to moles as ,

  No:of moles                   =   \frac{Given. mass }{Molar.mass}

                                         =
 \frac{36}{18}

                                         = 2 moles

[tex]Water = H_{2}O \\ molecular mass = H_{2} + O \\ =2(1) +16 amu \\ =18amu \\ \\ n= \frac{M}{m} \\ n= \frac{36}{18} \\ n=2 mol. [/tex]
