Crab and snail both have a protective covering. Is it
made up of the same material?​

The protective covering of crab is made up of chitin, called carapace which forms the exoskeleton for them. The protective covering of snail is called the shell, secreted by the mantle which is external incase of snail, it is not made up of chiton but is calcareous in nature that is made up of calcium carbonate.
