In a game of soccer, three players decide to form a triangular formation to tackle the forward players from the opposition team. There placement is given in the attached figure. We need to calculate the area of the triangle thus formed using Heron's formula.
Heron's formula is given by the formula:
A = √(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)
where a,b and c are the sides of the triangle and s is the semi perimeter given by s = (a + b + c) / 2.
In the given figure, the sides are 45m, 35m, and 16m.
Hence the semi perimeter s = (45 + 35 + 16)/2 = 48m
Using Heron's formula, we get
A = √48(48-45)(48-35(48-16)
= √48((3)(13)(32)
= 244.75m²
Hence area of the triangle will be 244.75m²
