creep reduction factor is applicable which type of reinforcement?
Answers
The long term allowable design strength of the reinforcement is obtained from the
index tensile strength T ultimate, that we can determine from either ASTM D6637 or
ASTM D4595 test methods. And that multiplied by some creep reduction factor which
is applicable for polymeric type reinforcements and that, divided by number of
factors. FC is the environmental degradation factor, FB is the biological
degradation factor, FD is the construction induced damage factor, which depends on
the method of compaction, the size of the aggregate and so on. Then this, the FS is the
overall factor of safety and in all these factors the usually the biological degradation
factor is equal to 1 and this FC environmental degradation factor invariably is 1,
unless we work with highly aggressive type of soils.

The failure of geosynthetic-reinforced soil (GRS) can be caused by various creep aspects(creep rupture, creep failure or excessive creep deformations) of geosynthetics. Zornberg (2004) defined the creep failure where the creep curve deviates from linear behavior on a semilogarithmic scale. Also, the excessive creep deformations are defined 1% of time-dependent creep strain of geosynthetics used for reinforcement given in BS 8006. However, current design guidelines recommend that creep-rupture curve be used to determine the creep reduction factor RFCR which is a conservative approach. In this study, more than 50 creep master curves were obtained using SIM between 40% and 77% of ultimate tensile strength and conventional creep rupture data were obtained
