Cricket players get cramps in their body due to the production of lactic acid in the muscles during heavy physical activity when the muscles do not get sufficient oxygen and the body respires anaerobically.Lactic Acid is highly poisonous in nature.

Cricketers may develop cramps  as a result of heavy exercise or fast running.
When muscle cell respire ANAEROBICALLY, there is partial break down of glucose and lactic acid. Accumulation of lactic acid causes muscle cramps.
Equation :(in absence of O2)

FOOD ( glucose) - - - - - - - > Latic acid + Energy

Relief from muscle cramps can be obtained by a hot water bath or massage
