"The Bridge Builder" is written by the American poet Will Allen Dromgoole. This poem focuses on the idea of helping others selflessly.

The old builder is building the bridge not for his sake, but for the young man that will cross the chasm after him. Although the chasm is full of hurdles and it is difficult to cross the old man has crossed it. He has still the spirit to overcome hurdles like this but he does not want the same thing to happen to that youth too. This shows his humane intentions and kindly spirit.

He is told that his journey has come to an end which means his life is appearing death. He will not have the chance to pass the chasm ever again as he will pass away by then. But he has the kind heart to build an entire bridge for others' sake.
