The Bangle Sellers are full of hope as they are proceeding towards the temple fair where they hope to find customers for their wares. They are impoverished and marginalized group of people whose income from the sales of their bangles at the best of times is uncertain and very meagre. However the bangles they sell are of religious and symbolic importance.

What is of great significance in the poem is that the poor bangle sellers don't say a word about their poverty, nor do they say anything about the profit they intend to make by selling their bangles at the fair. They prefer to concentrate only on the human element of the product they are going to sell.Sarojini Naidu explores the imagery associated with bangles and the implications for women's roles in Indian social setting.
