Answer:

In the poem, Tagore envisions a place where people are free, where the mind is open to allow knowledge to enter and be imbibed into their roots. He wishes for a land where people understand the power of unity and are not divided on petty issues such as caste, class, and colour. He dreams of a place where people do not think twice before speaking their mind.

The imagery swings between hopeful and bleak, as Tagore pictures a bright future while facing a relatively poignant present. He believes in the existence of "clear stream of reason" but acknowledges that it currently helms into the "dreary desert sand of dead habit."

The poet speaks of what he dreams his homeland should be- a place where freedom is the most precious asset, unity is the strength driving the country, a desire for perfection keeps us all working harder, and where thought is the golden egg which will make us richer and stronger as a country.

He imagines his country free from the yoke of fear, stratification and oblivion.
