Both Akbar and Aurangzeb earned great reputation over the time they ruled. Both possessed extraordinary qualities and were brave and energetic. Besides their similarities, the policies they made were contrasting.

(i) Talking about the religious policy, Akbar beliebed in unity of all the religions whereas Aurangzeb was sectarian and that was the reason that non-muslims became alienated from him.

(ii) While Akbar trained up an efficient and self reliant bureaucracy, Aurangzeb wasn't able to even trainn up his own successor.

(iii) Akbar conquered the throne in a peaceful manner whereas Aurangzeb killed his brothers and imprisoned his father for conquering the throne.

Akbar was a patron of art but Aurangzeb wasn't so.
