- Human Development Index (HDI) is constructed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
- The HDI comprises of three basic indicators of human development- longevity, knowledge and standard of living.
- If the value of HDI varies between zero and one (0-1).
- Zero represents lowest human development and one (1) represents highest human development.
Examples - high HDI countries - Australia , Norway, Sweden.
low HDI countries - Burkina Faso, Niger, South Sudan.
