There are many challenges that faced by the rapid growth of urban areas in Nigeria Benue state being one of them.This has been highly contributed to mostly by the rapid growth of population in Benue.

Some of the problem militating against urban administration in Benue state include:

Lack of infrastructure in the state which makes the place inaccessible for proper administration.

the increasing population of the area which has led to overcrowding in the city state.This has led to poor housing conditions in the city state as well as increased rate of house rents.

Shortage of water in the city.With respect to the water supply the research shows that the output is ridiculously low.

Factors that are militating against urban administration in Benue State.

• The slavery existed from the 16th and 19th century of Africans to America is one of the key reasons for lack of urbanization in Benue State.
• The people of Benue are scattered everywhere and randomly settled in the form of groups this is a drawback for urbanization to take place.
• Makurdi, Gboko, and Otukpo are the three centers wherein the population is divided into small groups.
• The Benue state has got 23 local governments.
