Critically examine the significance of the poem Gifts of God.

Answer:
In the poem, "The Gifts of God" by George Herbert the significance lies in the message shared by the poet. He took into account the efforts of God who created a unique creature which was a "human being" The central idea of the poem was how God created a being, "he created man " and while doing this he concentrated on making him the most privileged creature who possessed strength, beauty and wisdom. He highlighted how God knew about the nature of man. If man were to come into contact with more "blessings", "jewels", then man would forget God. Then man's attention would be on "Gods gifts " rather than the Creator, i.e. God Himself.
This poem is significant to help people realize the power of God and how he has created such special beings according to his liking. Also the fact that man should not forget his Creator and indulge in worldly matters more than other matters like worship and praising their Lord.
