The Indian history is divided into three parts that are ancient, medivial and modern period

this can also be divided as hindu (ancient ) , muslim/mughal (medical ) and britisher (mordern) period as first hindu used to rule the country then the mughals or other muslim ruler come from central Asia and other areas next the britisher who came from britain rule on India after this we got independent

But

at the time of mughals somewhere Hindus also had their territory and at the time of britishers somewhere Hindu and Muslims both had their territory and at the time of hindus somewhere Muslims also had their territory .

That's why we classify Indian history into acient , medivial and modern period
