- Crop protection management includes all measures taken to protect crops from diseases, pests, weeds, weather conditions. Crop protection plays a very important role in pre harvesting and post harvesting.
- In pre harvesting management, a crop must be protected from pests, weeds and various diseases to get a higher yield. To achieve this pesticides based approaches are favoured which includes herbicides, weedicides, fungicides. Other approaches may include cover crops, trap crops etc.
- In post harvesting management, the harvested grain needs to be protected against damage caused by various factos which include abiotic ( temperature , humidity) and biotic (microbes, birds, animals).

Explanation:

Crop protection is very important before and after harvesting. There are many factors that can damage the crop during pre harvesting and post harvesting periods.

In pre harvesting crop protection management, a crop must be protected from weeds, pests and diseases, so that farmer could get a higher yield. Pesticides, weedicides etc. are applied to achieve it.

After harvesting stored grain may be damaged by various abiotic ( temperature and humidity) and biotic (rodents, birds and microbes) factors. So it is equally important to save a crop after harvesting from these factors. So grain must be stored in cool and dry  and well protected places.
