The crystal structure is a body-centered tetragonal lattice.

Explanation:

  • This crystal represents a body centered tetragonal lattice (bcc) because all the angles of the crystal are the same (90º). Also the length of 2 sides of the lattice are equal.
  • The required empirical formula isSrFeO_2.
  • In the given lattice , there are 8 iron atoms present at the corner and also they are being shared between the unit cells which are also 8 in number. In the middle of the unit cell , there is one Sr atom present.
  • Therefore the number of iron atoms that will be present per unit cell will be given by:

        = 8\times \frac{1}{8} = 1

  • Similarly number of oxygen atoms per unit cell is given by:

       = 8\times \frac{1}{4} = 2
