Explanation:

The structure of a crystal that is formed by the water molecules is known as water of crystallization.
The role of water of crystallization in crystals of salts is to give the shape and colour and it has fixed number of water molecules.
Hydrated salts are the salts that has water of crystallization.
The water of crystallization can be lost when the salt is heated and due to this heating, it losses its colour and shape.
For example, 5 water molecules are present in copper sulphate (CuSO₄.5H₂O)crystals, so the colour of the crystal is blue.
In the presence of water of crystallization, the crystals are colored and in the absence of water of crystallization, it is colorless.
