Copper has two valencies, +1 and +2.
In case of Cuprous Oxide, Cu2O, the valency of cu is +1.
Whereas, in FeCl3, the valency of Fe (Iron) is 3.
Valency is the combining power of an element, which is measured by the number of hydrogen atoms; it can either displace or combine with to form new compounds.
