The complete question:

2.2 cubic dm of brass is to be drawn into a cylindrical wire 0.25 cm in diameter. Find the length of the wire.

Given:

The brass volume that has to be drawn into a cylindrical wire = 2.2 dm^{3}

= 2.2 × 10^{-3} m^{3}

A cylindrical wire out of it with diameter(d) = 0.25 cm

∴ The radius of this wire (r) = 0.125 × 10^{-2} m

We have to find, the length of this wire.

Solution:

Let the length of this wire = h

We know that,

The volume of a cylinder = \pi r^{2} h

The volume of the cylinder = The volume of the given brass

\dfrac{22}{7}\times  (0.125\times 10^{-2})^{2} h = 2.2 × 10^{-3} m^{3}

⇒ h = 448 m

Thus, the length of the cylindrical wire that can be formed is 448 m.
