CUO + H2 ------- CU + H2O . which get oxidized and which one is reduced ?

Cu+H2O gives CuO + H2

It is a redox reaction.

Since copper as reactant is present in the elementary state , its oxidation number is 0.
As a product it is attached with oxygen ,which means its oxidation number is +2.
This was oxidation.

At the same time hydrogen was reduced , since its oxidation number changed from +1 to 0.
