Curie law  XT = constant is obeyed by paramagnetic substances

  • Curie law : It states that the material magnetisation is directly proportional to applied magnetic field in case of paramagnetic materials.
  • But the relation gets changed when the material is heated, material magnetisation is inversly proportional to applied magnetic field.
  • Later by conducting various experiments Pierre Curie showed that for many  substances the susceptibility is inversely proportional to  absolute temperature

                                        X = \frac{C}{T}

  • Here the constant c is called Curie’s constant and the relation is defined as Curie’s law
