Given :

Three resistances are connected as shown in the figure.

Voltage of battery = 12V

To Find :

Current through 5Ω resistor.

Solution :

❒ First of all we need to find equivalent resistance of the circuit.

A] 10Ω and 6Ω are connected in parallel, their equivalent resistance will be

➙ 1/r = 1/10 + 1/6

➙ 1/r = (3+5)/30

➙ r = 30/8

r = 3.75 Ω

B] Finally 3.75Ω and 5Ω come in series, so final equivalent resistance will be

➙ R = r + 5

➙ R = 3.75 + 5

➙ R = 8.75Ω

As per ohm's law, current flow in conductor is directly proportional to the applied potential difference. [V = IR]

Net current flow in the circuit :

➛ V = I × R

➛ 12 = I × 8.75

➛ I = 12/8.75

I = 1.37 A

We know that current flow in each resistors is same in series connection.

Therefore current through 5Ω resistor = 1.37A

Answer:

Question :-

❖ the current through the 6Ω resistor...

Solution :-

➛ V = I × R

➛ 12 = I × 8.75

➛ I = 12/8.75

➛ I = 1.37 A
