Curved surface area of a cone is 308 cm² and its slant height is 14 cm. Find the radius of the base and total surface area of the cone.

Answer:

r = 7 cm , TSA = 462 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

         CSA= 308 (given)

           πrl = 308

22/7×r×14 = 308    (cancel 14 by 7)

    22×r×2 = 308

              r  = 308 / 22×2

              r  = 154/22 ⇒ 7    ∴r = 7

TSA of cone = πrl + πr²

                      = πr(l+r)

                      = 22/7 × 7 (14+7)  (cancel 7)

                      = 22 (21)

                      = 462

∴ TSA of cone is 462 cm²
