Answer:

The radius 'r' of a cylinder is the radius of its base. Now, the area of the rectangle = length × breadth. 2πr is the circumference of the circle and h is the height. Area of the curved surface will be = 2πr × h = 2πrh.

Solution :-

Curved surface area of cylinder = 2 π r h

Other formulaes related to Cylinder :-

Total surface area of cylinder = 2 π r ( r + h )

Volume of cylinder = π r^2 h

Formulaes of Cuboid :-

Lateral surface area = 2 h ( l + b )

Total surface area = 2 ( lb + bh + hl )

Volume = l × b × h

Formulaes of Cube :-

Lateral surface area = 4 l^2

Total surface area = 6 l^2

Volume = l^3

Formulaes of Cone :-

Slant height (l) = √h^2 + √r^2

Curved surface area = π r l

Total surface area = π r ( r + l )

Volume = 1/3 × π r^2 h

★ If the radius of the cylinder is 7 cm and height is 4 cm then find the curved surface area of cylinder.

C.S.A. of cylinder = 2 π r h

= 2 × 22/7 × 7 × 4

= 2 × 22 × 4 (cancelled 7)

= 176 sq.cm

The curved area of cylinder is 176 sq.cm

★ Find the curved surface area of a cylinder with radius 5 cm and height 28 cm

C.S.A. of cylinder = 2 π r h

= 2 × 22/7 × 5 × 28

= 2 × 22 × 5 × 4

= 880 sq.cm

The curved area of cylinder is 880 sq.cm
