When the surface area is less, the pressure exerted by the object is more. Hence, in order to exert more pressure while cutting certain things, cutting tools such as knives, blades, scissors, etc. have sharp edges which have very little surface area.

They have edges means that they are sharp .

So if the area will be less the pressure applied will be more as pressure is inversely propotional to area .

Hence they will cut better if they are sharp .

So cutting tools have acts edges .
