Solution :-
comparing the given pair of equations cx - y - 2 = 0 and 6x - 2y - 4 = 0 with a1x + b1y + c1 = 0 and a2x + b2y + c2 = 0 we get,
- a1 = c
- b1 = (-1)
- c1 = (-2)
- a2 = 6
- b2 = (-2)
- c2 = (-4)
Now, from above told concept we know that, when pair of equations have infinitely many solutions , than,
- a1/a2 = b1/b2 = c1/c2
Putting all values we get :-
→ c/6 = (-1)/(-2) = (-2)/(-4)
→ c/6 = 1/2 = 1/2
→ c/6 = 1/2
→ 2c = 6
dividing both sides by 2,
→ c = 3 (Ans.)
Hence, value of c is 3 for which given pair of equations have infinitely many solutions.
