The cycle of the season caused due to the revolution of the earth.

In addition to rotating on its axis, the Earth also travels around the Sun in the path that we call orbit. With its orbit, the movement around the sun is called rotation.

The "amount of time it takes for a journey around the sun" is called the period of revolution. The Earth's period is around 365.24 days or one year to revolve around the Sun. Due to these 0.24 days, there are 29 days in February every four years.

Earth's orbit is slightly oval around the Sun, so the Earth is slightly closer to the Sun compared to summer in winter.
