The earth's movement around the Sun termed as revolution causes the change in the seasons.

Explanation:

The earth moves in a definite path known as orbit. The orbit is not a circular path. The orbit is elliptical, that is,oval in shape. Further, there are slight differences in the furthest and closest points to the Sun.

The Earth is tilted at an angel of 23.5 degree. So, even during revolution, the earth remains titled. For example, if the "northern hemisphere" is towards the Sun, the southern hemisphere remains away from the Sun.

This titling causes changes in the amount of the heat and sunlight received by the different places on earth resulting in the changes in the climatic conditions of those places. This in turn "causes the cycle of seasons."
